Mapping out the existing landscape of players eliminates barriers and catalyzes efficiency in financing climate solutions. This component will serve to create both digital and physical connective tissues across existing and emerging entities, and includes all players focused on climate solutions in policy, finance, business and culture. We are focused on how to leverage technological solutions that provide the capacity to grow open source tools that allow investors, entrepreneurs and other influences to share resources, source deals, and communicate across sectors, geographies and opportunities.
Climate investing needs to be efficient, profitable and impactful. That's why organizing a replicable model investment portfolio that integrates the reality of climate change with existing and emerging investment opportunities across the risk/return spectrum is critical. We will measure how many investors we can bring in alongside how many “bankable” projects we can aggregate across asset classes. The portfolio will be constructed on its climate impact by a multi factor analysis, including metrics such as how much carbon is removed per dollar invested, how much water is saved, waste reduction, the removal of harmful toxins, as well as positive factors like job creation and other environmental and social governance factors.
It is time to shift the narrative on climate from one of economic destruction to one that represents economic opportunity. We must create shared understanding among public and private sector players through simplified language, metrics, uplifting rhetoric and community engagement.
Finance the Future aims to translate the technical topics of climate and finance to diverse and mainstream audiences. We also convene high-level gatherings focused on catalyzing private sector climate finance and strategy, and coordinate salons in partnership with existing networks and international events. These in-person gatherings encourage community development around common language, information transparency and deal flow.
